Don't Sleep, There are Snakes by Daniel L. Everett

This is an autobiographical account of a man's journey and life in the Amazon. He started out as a missionary to learn the Pirahã language in order to translate the bible into the language of these indigenous people. However he learned more than their language and so did his family. They learned the culture. Their culture is a lot different than western culture and appears to be rooted in the here and now. They have a totally different world view than westerners.
